In a thrilling display of cycling prowess, Liu Zhicheng of Shandong emerged victorious in the men's individual road race at China's 15th National Games. The race, held on November 8, 2025, in Guangdong Province, was a unique event that crossed the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge six times, making it the first cross-boundary race in the National Games' history. Liu's triumph was celebrated as he crossed the finish line in five hours, 17 minutes, and five seconds, with Beijing's Xue Chaohua and Yunnan's Hu Haijie securing the silver and bronze medals, respectively, in a tightly contested race decided by mere centimeters. Liu shared his excitement, expressing his first-time competition in Hong Kong and Macao, where the pace in the latter part of the race was significantly faster than usual, with every athlete taking the competition very seriously. The final sprint and jostling for position were described as extremely intense. Silver medalist Xue Chaohua also praised the route, describing cycling across the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge as a breathtaking experience, despite not expecting the bridge to be so long. The race saw 98 out of 104 riders complete the challenging course, with Hong Kong's Chu Tsun Wai in 15th position and Kam Chin Pok from Macao in 30th position as the highest-placed finishers among their respective squads. The cycling competition continues on Sunday morning with the women's individual road race, featuring 101 athletes, followed by the opening ceremony in the evening.
