Pedro Acosta: KTM's MotoGP 2025 Struggles and Future Goals
KTM's performance in the 2025 MotoGP season has been a topic of discussion, especially for Pedro Acosta, who is seeking improvement and more from the team.
Acosta's journey in the season began with a challenging start, as he started 11th before the Jerez race. Despite a strong comeback, he ended up in fourth place in the championship, just ahead of Francesco Bagnaia, who crashed out early. Acosta's goal, however, was to fight for the championship, which he felt KTM had failed to achieve.
During the Valencia race, Acosta's performance was commendable, securing a top-five finish for much of the race. However, he expressed disappointment, stating, 'It’s missing a lot.' He aimed to push for the championship, but the results fell short of his expectations.
Despite his growth as a rider, Acosta acknowledges the need for improvement in 2026. He believes he has been giving his best, avoiding crashes and mistakes, but managing everything perfectly in a race is challenging. Acosta rated his performance for the year as a 5 out of 10, indicating room for growth.
One of the key issues Acosta highlighted was the lack of grip, which affected his performance. He explained that KTM struggles to be fast at the beginning of races due to a significant loss of rear grip. This issue cost him a podium position, as he lost to Fabio Di Giannantonio, who had a better start.
Looking ahead, Acosta is determined to push KTM to new heights. He wants to fight for the championship and believes that with the right improvements, the team can achieve more in the future.
