Richmond's Unique Conveyor Belt Sushi Inside a Kids Playground! | Mino Sushi Conveyor Belt Review (2026)

Richmond's First Conveyor Belt Sushi Opens Inside A Children's Indoor Playground

Last updated: February 11, 2026

Who would have thought that Richmond's newest conveyor belt sushi spot would be hidden within a children's indoor playground? It's a unique concept that has us curious as to how it works.

(Editor's Note: A commentator shared that this isn't actually the first conveyor belt sushi in Richmond. There was one about 20 years ago on No.3, but it now operates as a regular sushi spot without the conveyor belt.)

Mino Sushi Conveyor is a novel idea, operating out of Mino Club Cafe on Ackroyd Road in Richmond. By day, it functions as a kids' indoor playground and cafe, but after 5 PM, the space transforms into a conveyor belt sushi experience.

Giant Japanese festival banners cover the playground area, and a row of tables is set up beside the belt. The team behind this concept invited Noms Magazine to check it out, but we decided to visit anonymously to get a firsthand experience.

The pricing is similar to other conveyor belt sushi spots. You take plates off the belt and pay based on the type of plate. There are three tiers: Single-Color Plate ($2.80), Wave Plate ($3.80), and Japanese Lace Plate ($5.80). The menu lists potential items, but it doesn't specify the plate level, so the pricing can be a surprise.

A tip for visitors: sit on the kitchen side of the belt. We made the mistake of sitting on the opposite side, which meant we missed out on the first dibs on the food. When we visited near opening time (6 PM), the belt had simpler items like edamame, tempura, and basic sushi rolls. After 30 minutes and more guests arrived, more interesting plates appeared, including aburi sushi, ebi nigiri, and inari.

You can also request specific items from the menu, and the staff will prepare them and send them to your seat on a miniature train above the conveyor belt.

Sashimi is available on a separate order sheet and is not placed on the belt. Now, for the two questions you're probably thinking about: cleanliness and taste. Being in a children's playground might raise some eyebrows, but the owner, Jay, assured us that the kitchen is fully licensed and approved by Vancouver Coastal Health. All kitchen staff hold food safe certifications, and food is removed from the belt after a set time.

However, the food itself is more about the interactive experience than the taste. So, if you're expecting gourmet sushi, you might want to look elsewhere. The expectations should be kept low, as it's more about the unique experience.

It could be a fun outing for families or groups of friends looking for something different. The spot is open every day except Tuesdays, starting at 6 PM. Mino Sushi Conveyor Belt joins other new food spots in Richmond, like Cotti Coffee Lansdowne, The Food Court, and Nonbiri Cafe.
