Get ready for a captivating romantic comedy that will sweep you off your feet! You, Me & Tuscany is a highly anticipated film starring the talented Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page, and it's set to be a delightful treat for movie lovers everywhere. But here's where it gets controversial... is it just another rom-com, or does it offer something unique and inspiring? Let's dive in and find out!
Bridgerton's heartthrob Regé-Jean Page and The Little Mermaid's enchanting Halle Bailey have joined forces to bring us a story set in the picturesque Tuscany, Italy. The film, directed by Kat Coiro, was shot earlier this year and is based on a screenplay by Ryan Engle, with an original concept by Engle and Kristin Engle. Will Packer, known for his blockbuster hits like Girls Trip, is on board as the producer.
Halle Bailey takes on the role of Anna, a young woman who has lost her way and is struggling to find her passion. After a series of bad choices, Anna finds herself without a home and a job. But a chance encounter with a handsome Italian named Matteo (played by Lorenzo de Moor) changes everything. Matteo has an empty villa in Tuscany, and Anna, against the advice of her best friend Claire (Aziza Scott), decides to jet off to Italy for a night of adventure. Little does she know, Matteo's mother, Gabriella (the iconic Isabella Ferrari), will complicate matters when she unexpectedly arrives at the villa.
In a panic, Anna pretends to be Matteo's fiancée, and this little white lie sets the stage for a series of events that will ignite a fire within her. Anna discovers a connection with Matteo's cousin, Michael (Regé-Jean Page), and their chemistry is undeniable. The film's diverse cast includes Marco Calvani as an Italian taxi driver who befriends Anna, and Academy Award nominee Nia Vardalos as Anna's house-sitting client, Mrs. Dunn.
During the global trailer launch, editor Jacqueline Coley sat down with the stars, director, and producer to discuss the film. Will Packer shared his excitement about returning to the classic rom-com genre, saying, "We wanted to create something fun and organic. The energy on set was incredible, and we wanted to showcase Tuscany's beauty while being mindful of our impact."
Packer emphasized the film's commitment to sustainability, a significant part of Universal Pictures' Greener Light initiative. "We wanted to give back to the community and ensure our production had minimal impact. We sourced local products, recycled, and considered every aspect to be eco-friendly. It was important to us to showcase this amazing place responsibly."
Halle Bailey and Regé-Jean Page both expressed their enthusiasm for the project. Bailey shared, "I was inspired by Anna's journey of self-discovery and passion. It's a feel-good movie with so many beautiful layers."
Page added, "Rom-coms are often underrated. Halle's energy is infectious, and the Tuscan setting is immersive and aspirational. We wanted to create a space for joy and escapism, a place where people can come together and feel inspired."
